A little bit about us...
It is often said, "If you don't know where you're going, any road will get you there."  Here at Chapel Pointe, we definitely agree with those words of wisdom.  We also understand that as you spend more time with us, you'll probably want to get to know us better.  Who are we?  What do we believe?  What drives us?  You'll find most of those answers right here.  If you have further questions or want to know more, please don't hesitate to ask!

He oversees staff, leadership development, vision-casting and implementation, strategic planning and goal-setting. Additional functions include speaking, counseling and providing pastoral care.

Both Dan and Melanie would like to extend a personal invitation for you to visit this growing and dynamic church!

Community Life Ministries Pastor - Kevin Matthews - kmatthews@chapel-pointe.org

I’m pretty sure most people would say that I’m not a typical pastor.  To most people I’m simply “Kevin” and I actually prefer it that way.  While I have been called of God to be a pastor, I prefer to be known as someone who simply loves people.  I’ve been serving in a pastoral role for 23 years, most of those as a Student Ministries Pastor.  I have been a part of two churches in those 23 years, with one of those being Chapel Pointe.  God has allowed me the privilege of doing the journey with some great people both here and in my previous church.  I’m thankful God uses the foolish and the weak to be a part of His redemptive plan.  That makes me extremely qualified!

As one of sixteen children, to say that my life has been an interesting journey would be an understatement.  My childhood experiences have certainly shaped me, and I believe those experiences have helped to prepare me as both a person and a pastor.

I graduated with a Bachelor of Religious Education from William Tyndale College, and received a Master of Arts in Organizational Leadership from Indiana Wesleyan University.

I have been married to Lori for 25 years.  She certainly deserves special recognition for that accomplishment! We have three aspiring children who have brought great joy to our lives.  Kelsey will be attending Cornerstone University or Cedarville University for her junior year of college.  Cameron will be attending Kendall College in the fall.  Kirsten is enjoying her sophmore year in high school.

Student Ministries Pastor - Shevi Sloane - ssloane@chapel-pointe.org

Shevi Sloane has been in student ministry for over nine years and began his time with Chapel Pointe in June of 2011.  After leaving his hometown of Hickory, North Carolina, Shevi went to LibertyUniversity where he received a Bachelors Degree in Biblical Studies.  He received his Masters of Arts in Religion from Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary.  As far as ministry is concerned Shevi has two great passions; missions and students.  His goal is to see students transformed through Christ centered relationships and discipleship to become missionaries for Christ both here and abroad.

Shevi has a wide range of likes which include but are not limited to music, sports, art, movies, and Taco Bell.  He pulls for the Carolina Panthers, Lebron James, Michael Vick, Albert Puljos, and is developing a habit of watching the Detroit Tigers.  His favorite books include Crazy Love by Francis Chan, The Barbarian Way by Erwin McManus, Sun Stand Still by Steven Furtick, and Radical by David Platt.

Shevi has been married to Lisa since June 15, 2002.  Lisa currently stays home with their three children Canaan-5, Pierson-3, Landon-1 and Hudson 4 months.

Shevi’s favorite verse is Philippians 3:14 which says “I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.”

Vision & Core Values...

CHAPEL POINTE.  REACHING SEEKERS...DEVELOPING BELIEVERS.

We hold to six core truths...what we call our "Core Values".  These values support our visions and are the building blocks for Chapel Pointe's Ministries:

We are a "Bible-based Church" ...where the Bible is the inspired and inerrant Word of God, and as such is to be taught literally as our guidebook for all matters pertaining to daily life.

We are a "Worshiping Church" ...where worship is personal, dynamic and pleasing to God...where He alone receives all of the glory.

We are a "Caring Church" ...where people treat each other as family, and willingly rush to the aid of brothers or sisters in need of spiritual or material support.

We are an "Equipping Church"...where leaders are committed to helping every believer become a champion by providing the opportunities and support for them to maximize the effective use of their talents and spiritual gifts.

We are an "Evangelizing Church" ...where reaching the lost for Christ both at home and abroad is a driving passion.

We are an "Empowered Church" ...where people aren’t afraid to pursue God-sized dreams through the power of persistent prayer.

Our Beliefs...
 Statement of Faith

WE BELIEVE the Scriptures, both Old and New Testament, to be the verbally inspired Word of God, without error in the original writings, the complete revelation of his will for the salvation of men, and the divine and final authority for all Christian faith and life (II Timothy 3:16-17; II Peter 1:19-21; Proverbs 30:5).

WE BELIEVE in one God, Creator of all things, infinitely perfect and eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (John 1:1; I John 5:7; II Corinthians 13:14).

WE BELIEVE that Jesus Christ is true God and true man, having been conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He died on the cross as a sacrifice for our sins according to the Scriptures. Further, he arose bodily from the dead, ascended into heaven, where at the right hand of the Majesty on High, He now is our High Priest and Advocate (Matthew 1:18, 23; Luke 1:30-37; Acts 1:8 11, Acts 2:22-28; I Corinthians 15:3; Philippians 2:5-8; Hebrews 1:3; Hebrews 7:23-28; Hebrews 9:22-28; Isaiah 7:14; I John 5:20).

WE BELIEVE that the ministry of the Holy spirit is to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ, and during this age, to convict men of sin, regenerate the believing sinner, indwell, guide, instruct, and empower the believer for godly living and sacrifice (John 6:44; John 14:17, 26; John 16:13-15; Romans 8:9-17; Romans 12:6-8; Ephesians 5:18; I Corinthians 2:12-16; I Corinthians 6:19; Titus 3:5).

WE BELIEVE that man was created in the image of God; that he sinned and thereby incurred, not only physical death, but also spiritual death which is separation from God; and that all human beings are born with a sinful nature and are sinners in thought, word, and deed. Only through regeneration by the Holy Spirit can salvation and Spiritual life be obtained (Genesis 1:26-27; Genesis 3:1-6; Romans 5:12, 19).

WE BELIEVE the Lord Jesus Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, as a representative and substitutionary sacrifice and that all who believe in Him and receive Him as personal Savior are justified on the basis of His shed blood (I Corinthians 15:3-4; Romans 5:1,9,18,19; Hebrews 9:22).

WE BELIEVE that all who receive by faith the Lord Jesus Christ are born again of the Holy Spirit and thereby become children of God, eternally secure in Him (I John 5:1; John 1:12; 1 Peter 1:5; John 10:29).

WE BELIEVE that the Lord has given two ordinances to be observed by the church during the present age. These are, however, not to be regarded as a means of salvation. First, believer’s baptism by immersion, as a testimony signifying we were buried with the Lord Jesus Christ in His death, and raised again unto a new life and walk (Acts 8:26-39; Matthew 28:19-20; Romans 6:3-5). Secondly, the Lord’s Supper for the purpose of remembering that His blood was shed for us (I Corinthians 11:23-32).

WE BELIEVE in the Genesis record of creation in that God created the heavens and the earth including all life, each after its own kind, by direct act and not by the process of evolution (Genesis 1 and 2; Colossians 1:16, 17; John 1:3; Acts 4:24; Revelation 10:8).

WE BELIEVE that Satan is a fallen angel and a distinct personality; that he is the god of this world, the author of all powers of darkness and sin, the spirit who works in the unbelieving and is destined to the judgment of an eternal justice in the Lake of Fire. As believers, we are exhorted to resist the devil (Matthew 4:1-3; II Corinthians 4:3-4; Isaiah 14:12-17; Ezekiel 28:14-17; Revelation 20:10; Ephesians 6:10-17; James 4:7).

WE BELIEVE in the resurrection of the crucified body of our Lord, in His ascension into heaven, and in His present life there for us as a High Priest and Advocate (Matthew 28:6-7; Luke 24:39; John 20:27; Acts 1:9-11; Luke 24:51; Romans 8:34; I John 2:1).

WE BELIEVE the true Church is composed of all such persons who, through saving faith in Jesus Christ, has been regenerated by the Holy Spirit and are united together in the body of Christ, of which He is the Head (Matthew 16:18; Romans 12:12-14; Colossians 1:18).

WE BELIEVE that only those who are thus members of the true Church shall be eligible for membership in the local church.

WE BELIEVE that Jesus Christ is the Lord and Head of the Church and that every local church has the right, under Christ, to decide and govern its own affairs.

WE BELIEVE in that blessed hope, the personal return of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in the air to catch away The Church preceding the Tribulation period and to return with The Church (His Bride) to rule and reign in the Millennial period on the earth (Titus 2:12-13; I Thessalonians 4:13-17; Matthew 24:27; II Timothy 2:12; Revelation 20:8).

WE BELIEVE in the bodily resurrection of the dead; of the believer to everlasting blessedness and joy with the Lord in a literal Heaven; of the unbeliever to judgment and everlasting conscious punishment in a literal Hell (Matthew 25:31-46; I Corinthians 15:51 53; Mark 9:47; John 5:24,29; Revelation 20:11-15).
