At Chapel Pointe, one of our core values is that everyone lives in their area of spiritual giftedness.
Think about that. You were dead, lifeless, and unable to know or experience the life God designed for you. Sin ruled our thoughts and desires. We were stuck until God stepped in and saved us.
Through the death and resurrection of His Son, God made a way for us to experience true life together with Christ.
As transformed followers, we no longer live for ourselves. The Holy Spirit comes in and reshapes our hearts, motives, and purpose. And here’s the amazing part: the Spirit uniquely gifts each and every one of us to build up the body of Christ. No one is left out. Your gift matters.
Serving is sacrificial.
It’s not about convenience. It’s about Christ-likeness. Our mindset shifts.
We begin to think like Jesus, who didn’t consider equality with God as something to be grasped, but humbled Himself. (Philippians 2:6-8)
Jesus stooped down to even wash His disciples’ feet. When we serve others, we should have that same mentality and posture.
Serving is transformative.
Serving doesn’t just impact other people. It changes you.
As we walk in step with the Spirit, it actually realigns our hearts. We start to care about what God cares about. We go from being selfish to being compassionate. The more we follow Him, listen to Him, obey Him, do what He says, and serve others, it actually changes us to focus on His will over our will.
Serving is life-giving.
Serving out of your giftedness isn’t exhausting; it’s energizing.
When your service flows from time spent with Jesus, it fills you rather than draining you. It doesn’t deplete you, because you were made for this.
God has wired you with a unique set of gifts, passions, and experiences for a purpose. When you serve in alignment with how He designed you, it’s fulfilling. Even when you are stretched, there is meaning and purpose in what you do. It’s because you are doing it for Him.
Serving is Ultimately for Him.
Every single thing you do matters. No matter how small, every gospel-oriented action has eternal implications.
Jesus said that when you serve others, you are actually serving Him. (Matthew 25:40)
Serve with everything you’ve got. Love your neighbor, not because you have to. Love your neighbor because you actually get to show them the love the Father has shown you. The way you love your neighbor is a direct reflection of your love for God.
Discover Your Gifts
God didn’t make anyone sit on the sidelines. Everyone has a role to play.
What are the unique gifts God has given you? Do you even know? Are you serving in a way that feels like you are trying to earn someone’s approval, or do you feel like you are doing them a favor? Do you have the right motivations behind what you do for others? Do you serve others in order to get something out of it? Consider how God has uniquely designed you.
- Where do you see God using you to make a difference in the lives of others?
- What acts of service make you come alive?
- What breaks your heart and stirs you to action?
- How has God used your past experiences, skills, and passions to point people to Him?
Living in our spiritual giftedness happens when your God-given gifts, skills, and passions meet a gospel-oriented need.
