One evidence of God’s sovereign authority and the Bible’s inspiration is the fulfillment of prophecies. In the Old Testament, we find prophecies that were literally fulfilled in Old Testament times and in Christ. We can project based on those fulfillments that unfulfilled Old Testament and New Testament prophecies will also be fulfilled in the future in a literal way. Figurative language in prophecy must be interpreted based on context and previous usage in Scripture. These prophetic events include the personal return of Christ for His church, the tribulation, the role of Israel, the second coming and Millennial Kingdom of Christ, judgments, the bodily resurrection of the dead, both of believers and unbelievers to a literal heaven and hell, and the New Heaven and New Earth.
